Instructions for Finding
Benchmarks on InfoMap
Enter Orange County "InfoMap"
On InfoMap, you will find a selection of Map Layers. The benchmark network can be found under the Property Layer.

In order to see the marks, you need to do the following:

1. Expand the Property Folder.
2. Locate the Layer called “County Benchmarks (88 Datum)”.
3. Click on the icon to the left of the layer (a lower case i), and all the available benchmarks will appear as green points.
4. Then, you can zoom in and select any one of the points on the screen, and the benchmark information will appear (please ensure that your web browser is set to allow pop-ups).

Also, InfoMap provides the user with the ability to search by Section, Intersection or Coordinate, among other things. You can locate your benchmarks this way as well. You can do this as follows:

1. Across the top, there is a menu bar. Look for the box that is labeled “Find”, with a down arrow next to it.
2. Click the arrow and select the method you would like to search by, i.e. Coordinate, Section, Intersection etc.
3. Enter the appropriate information and click find.
4. InfoMap will zoom into the appropriate area that you are looking for, and you will see all the green benchmark points that are available for you to use. (Please note: If you search by Coordinate, the coordinates will appear on the screen in blue, and they may be on top of the benchmark you are searching for. You can use the zoom tools at the top of the screen to better visualize the point.)
5. To get the benchmark information, you must click on the icon that has the lower case “I” on top of blue, red, and green layers (located under the find box), then click on the green point you are interested in.
