Determining the File Name
Use the Quad Name Locator to find the
DEP quad number.
The file names begin with "Q", followed by the DEP quad number, followed by "NW", "NE", "SW", or "SE" to indicate quarter-quad position within the quad.
A "1" follows to indicate 1-meter resolution.
Each MrSID quad has up to 5 image files: one for each quarter-quad and one containing a mosaic of the individual pieces.
Downloading Instructions
FTP
is recommended for large downloads.
These images are available on CD, DVD, or portable hard drive for a fee.
Special Software Needed
GIS software that can read a MrSID file is recommended. Be sure to download the SDW file and place it in the same directory as the SID.
ESRI's ArcView supports MrSID format (be sure to turn the extension on).
The
MrSID Viewer and
MrSID GeoExpress View
are stand-alone applications designed to optimize the viewing of imagery
that is in the MrSID imaging format.
